NATIONAL EQUITY LAB COLLEGE COURSES:

CSSJ students have access to college courses in a high school setting. The program provides college credit-bearing courses from top universities across the country — Arizona State, Bard, Georgetown, Howard and Stanford. It also provides one-to-one college mentors to help students navigate the college application and financial aid process.

COLLEGE TRIPS:

Students in all grade levels take day-long college trips throughout the school year, and we provide overnight trips to college campuses for students in upper grades.

DELOITTE ACADEMY:

We partner with Deloitte to provide a career and college mentoring program for students in 9th-12th grades. Deloitte staff members conduct workshops twice monthly at CSSJ for students in Deloitte Academy and take them on field experiences to visit colleges and engage in other career preparation experiences.

NYC OUTWARD BOUND SCHOOLS’ COLLEGE AND CAREER MARCH

Every year, NYC Outward Bound Schools’ seniors parade to the local post office, The College and Career March, celebrated at schools around the country, is a cheered on by the entire school, to mail letters to people who supported them in powerful symbol of the idea that, with the right support, every student can planning for the future.graduate with a solid postsecondary plan.

INTERNSHIPS

CSSJ Upper Division students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through a 60-hour paid internship with local businesses and organizations across the Bronx and Manhattan. These internships provide valuable exposure to professional environments while helping students build essential workplace skills. In addition, all interns participate in a weekly Internship Seminar, where they strengthen work-based competencies and develop financial literacy, laying the foundation for future success in college, careers and beyond.

PATHWAYS ADVISING

At CSSJ, every student is paired with a dedicated college and career counselor who works with them throughout all four years of high school. This long-term, individualized support helps students confidently explore their interests, set meaningful goals, and plan for life after graduation. Through one-on-one advising sessions, students develop a personalized road map that reflects their academic, personal, and career aspirations. By the time they graduate, every CSSJ student has a clear, actionable postsecondary plan.
