GREETINGS FROM PRINCIPAL

Dear Prospective Students and Families,
Welcome to the CSSJ website! Please feel free to look around our wonderful website for additional information about CSSJ, but I will be happy to breakdown the key components of our amazing community. First, we are a member of the New York Performance Standards Consortium, where students complete PBATs or Performance-Based Assessment Tasks, which are written tasks that require students to complete extensive research, writing, and revision. PBATs provide students with opportunities to have a voice and take ownership of their work. These graduation performance-based assessments meet the NYS requirements in lieu of students taking the NYS Regents exams.
Secondly, CSSJ is also a NYC Outward Bound School. All NYC Outward Bound Schools prepare students for college, citizenship, and the 21st-century workplace. We also implement the nationally recognized EL Education school model, which is rooted in Outward Bound. This model features rigorous learning experiences, both in and out of the classroom, and is built upon a culture of high achievement and mutual support. CSSJ uses hands-on learning that has real-world application to ignite a joy for learning and discovery in our students. At our school, leadership, active citizenship, and character development go hand-in-hand with academic rigor and challenge.
I am fortunate to be a member of this community and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about CSSJ. Thank you!
