School Entry Procedures
Dear CSSJ Young Leaders,
As we approach the first day of school for blended students in the "B" cohort on Thursday and Friday and the "A" cohort next Monday and Tuesday, we are very excited to see each of you and welcome you into CSSJ. It has been six months since we have held in-person classes at CSSJ and our staff has worked hard to welcome each of you and create courses that are engaging, challenging and cover topics that connect to your everyday lives.
There are new procedures that have been put in place by the DOE to protect the safety of all students and staff. Below are the steps that must be adhered to by all CSSJ students who enter the building:
Students will be allowed to enter the building no earlier than 8:45am (classes begin at 9am)
Every student must wear a face covering upon entering the building
Every student must complete an online screening tool prior to entering the building. This is a new DOE mandate that must be completed before you leave your house and displayed on your phone when entering the building. Additional info regarding this step is included below.
-open DOE Online Screening Tool -Click on Guest Screening -Check "I'm a student" -Enter your first name, last name, and email -Enter School Facility: Community School for Social Justice (07x427) -Enter Floor: 2nd or 3rd floor -Click on "Fill out daily screening" -Answer questions 1-4 -take a screenshot of online screening tool (For students without a handheld device on which to show completion of the online form there will be a series of questions asked upon arrival.)
Upon entering the building EVERY student will sanitize their hands, have their temperature recorded and swipe their ID for attendance
Breakfast will be available on the 2nd or 3rd floor common areas and can only be eaten in class between 9:00-10:00am only
I know there are many changes that will be new to everyone, but Dana, Bonnick, and I will be in the lobby and outside of CSSJ making sure that routines and procedures are followed. It will take a little adjustment, but we will get through this together. I look forward to seeing the "B" cohort on Thursday and Friday and the "A" cohort on Monday and Tuesday.
Sincerely, Jaime P. Guzman Principal Community School for Social Justice (07x427) 718-402-8481 ext: 2551 www.cssjbronx.org
