2021 Spring Semester

Dear CSSJ Students and Families,

We're finishing out the Fall Semester of the 20-21 school year. Fall Semester report cards and progress reports will be sent home the first and second week of February. Monday, February 1 is a Professional Development day for staff; no class for students on that day. The new Spring Semester will begin Tuesday, February 2. Every year we have some changes to the program between fall and spring semesters. Students, you will be keeping most or all of your same teachers and classes, but your daily schedule will change a little. In addition, all students will be returning to their original Family Group teachers! This will directly impact our 10th-12th grade students and we hope returning to your original family groups helps our students finish strong in the 2nd semester. As for the rest of the school year, chances are we'll be fully remote for most of the spring semester. We want to maximize your learning time with your teachers and so we are making some changes to the spring semester program. What should you expect in your spring schedule?

  • We have expanded our elective offerings for the Spring and we believe our upperclassmen will be happy with the wide range of courses that will be available such as Intro to Playwriting, Escape the Virtual Classroom, iPhoneography (Android also welcome), Problem Solving, Logic and Chess, Sociology and Forensics Science to list a few of many more...

  • Advisory will be 30 minutes 4x a week and meet 2:00-2:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. (Advisory will no longer meet for morning check-ins.)

  • Our class periods schedule will be slightly different:

  • Period 1: 9:00-10:00

  • Period 2: 10:00-11:00

  • Period 3: 11:00-12:00

  • Period 4: 12:00-1:00

  • Period 5: 1:00-2:00

  • Period 6: 2:00-2:30 (Family Group)

  • You will still have some periods throughout the day for "Remote Learning" when you do not have online synchronous classes. Teachers and Advisors will continue to work 1:1 with you to help you set up your individual calendars to make the best use of your “Remote Learning” times.

We want all CSSJ students to get the best education possible, even and especially during remote schooling. It's very important to us that CSSJ students are supported social-emotionally as well as academically and can remain on track to graduate, whether we have remote or in-person school. Students, you will receive your Spring Semester schedule on skedula on February 1st. If you have any questions about it, please reach out to your Family Advisor. Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!

Sinceramente, Jaime P. Guzman
