College Programs

  • The College Now Bronx Civic Scholars Institute provides rising high school seniors with a three-credit American Government course; a daily college awareness workshop; and over sixty hours of aninternship at a community-based organization that focuses on community organizing and youth activism (the sites include the Bronx Defenders, and Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition.). In addition, students have field trips each week related to the curriculum.  The program will run from July 6th 2015 until August 13th, 2015.

  • The Summer Intensive Language Program (SIELP) is a six-week program designed to help English Language Learners who have completed the 9th grade improve their English language skills in preparation for success in their transition to college. Students participate in an intensive, history-based thematic curriculum which focuses on the American Revolution, and receive: 30 hours a week of instruction, including 4 hours of reading/ writing/ listening comprehension and Internet research; 1 hour of physical activity. Students also participate in weekly field trips in support of the curriculum. The program will run from July 6th 2015 until August 13th, 2015.

  • The College Focus program is looking for current 11th grade students who are on track for high school graduation but not academically prepared for college to apply. By taking an ELA or a Math course as part of the College Focus summer program and passing the CUNY Assessment test for which they will prepare, students can exempt themselves from the remedial classes they otherwise must take if they attend CUNY.  Send students to College Focus this summer and get them off the remediation track at CUNY!  We’re looking for rising seniors who have passed their ELA and/or Algebra Regents exams but have not demonstrated college readiness with a 75 ELA or 80 Algebra.

  • Let's Get Ready expands access to college in America by mobilizing, equipping, and empowering a movement of college students helping high school students get to college through intensive SAT preparation, college advising, and the powerfully relevant role-models and mentors they need to succeed.  The program  run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from  mid June through mid August. You will receive the application once it becomes available.
